Eddie Franklin Whirley Sr. was born July 9, 1949 in Corinth, Mississippi the son of the late William Lonzo (Lonnie) and Carrie Lee Robertson Whirley.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Wilbanks on July 13, 1970.
Mr. Whirley was a former machinist for Spun Steel Corporation in Corinth, Mississippi. He served two tours of duty in the United States Army Artillery during the Vietnam War. He loved spending time with his family, watching the Game Show Channel, and playing with his puppies.
Mr. Whirley departed this life on August 17, 2010 in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 61 Years, 1 Month, 8 Days. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Wanda (Wilbanks) Whirley of Ramer, TN; five children: Eddie Whirley II of Corinth, MS, Sheryl Sanders and husband Jason of Parsons, TN, Curtis Whirley and fiancee Amanda, Teddy Whirley, and Jessie Whirley, all of Guys, TN; eleven grandchildren: Carrlie Butler, Eddie Whirley III, Dylan Whirley, Kortney Sanders, Dexter Whirley, Kaylee Whirley, Liz Stephens, Nevaeh Whirley, Logan Barmer, Chloe Barmer, and Skye Newcomb; a sister, Jessie Lewis of Guys, TN; a brother, W. C. Whirley of Jackson, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Whirley was preceded in death by a sister, Birdie Mae (Whirley) Mathis; and two brothers, Sherman Whirley and Joe Whirley.
