Edith Earline Dodd Brewer

June 4, 1926 — December 15, 2016

Edith Earline Dodd Brewer was born June 4, 1926 and died December 15, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Youngest child of Berry Albert (died March 23, 1959) and Rosie Lee Henson Dodd (died November 29, 1927).

On September 8, 1940, she was married to Jasper Carl Brewer who preceded her in death on April 22, 2005. She married very young and was a busy and hard worker all her life, her pastime was working in her yard. She had worked at various jobs through the years. The last place she worked, and the job she enjoyed the most, was for Carl Fred at Piggly Wiggly in Collinwood. She loved to travel west to visit her nieces, Ella Rose, Jo Nell and Glenda and their families, which she did many times. She also enjoyed the Smokey Mountains with family. She and Carl brought many people who needed a place to live into their home and helped care for them.

She is survived by her sons, Jasper and wife, Terry, Joe and wife, Helen, Jerry and wife, Rene, Larry and wife, Linda; a daughter, Janie Bogus and husband, Sonny; Eleven grandchildren, Braxton Bogus and wife, Natalie, Eric Bogus and wife, Kim, Jay Bogus and wife, Donna, Sonya Armentrout and husband, Bryan, Richard and Sandra Brewer, Tim Brewer, JoAnne Manley and husband Darren, Leah and husband, Goss, Chad Brewer, Brian Brewer and wife, Sarah; twelve great-grandchildren, Caleb Bogus and wife, Katelyn, Josh Bogus, Levi Bogus, Brylee Armentrout, Christopher Griggs, Lara and Reagan Brewer, Haley Manley, Presley Brewer, Anna and Bryant Brewer; two nieces, Ella Rose Williams and Glenda Davis. She is also survived by the children of Clovis and Lavinia Brewer and by friends who were special to her including, Kathleen Hayes, Liz Daniel, Elsie Berry, Billie Wilson and many others.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, James Lee Brewer; brothers, Leo, R. A., Leland and Leonard Dodd; a sister, Josie Heard; a niece, JoNell Cross; a nephew, Ronald Fay Brewer.

Services will be Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with James Paul Nobles officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Braxton, Eric and Jay Bogus, Richard, Tim, Chad and Brian Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Fred Daniel, Robert Cook, Donald Ray, Clovis, Edwin, David and Randall Brewer and the men from Fairview Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 12 pm to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whitten's Cross Roads cemetery fund at Bank of Collinwood.
