EDITH NELL MELTON BROMLEY
was born in Waynesboro, Tennessee on September 18, 1922 the daughter of the late Terry Cleaveland and Laura Ann Merriman Melton.
In April of 1943 she was united in marriage to J. N. Bromley, who preceded his wife in death on December 4, 2001.
Mrs. Bromley was a homemaker and a retired school teacher for Walnut Grove Elementary and Parris South School. She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah.
She departed this life on June 20, 2012 at the Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Mrs. Bromley is survived by two daughters, Jean Bromley Watson and her husband Wallace of Collierville, Tennessee and Joy Bromley Walker and her husband Tom of Chesterfield, Virginia. Mrs. Bromley was preceded in death by her oldest granddaughter, Kimberly Watson Garrison She is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian Walker and his wife Jorie of Raleigh, North Carolina, Richard Watson of Nashville, Tennessee, Brent Walker of Chesterfield, Virginia and Andrea Walker of Long Beach, California and grandson-in-law, David Garrison of Cordova, Tennessee
Mrs. Bromley is also survived by six great grandchildren, Laura and Steven Garrison of Cordova, Tennessee and Molly, Sarah, Henry and Flynn Walker of Raleigh, North Carolina
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Bromley was also preceded in death by two brothers, E. J. Melton and Charles Ray Melton, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
