Edith Mae Burns

Edith Mae Walker Burns of Waynesboro, TN was born August 21, 1934 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the daughter of the late Vernest and Gladys Thompson Walker. She was united in marriage to Billy Gene Burns on February 27, 1957 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1998. Mrs. Burns was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Tennessee.Mrs. Burns departed this life on May 26, 2011 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 9 Months, 5 Days.She is survived by two sons, Billy W. Burns and Dennis A. Burns; a brother, Charles Walker; two sisters, Billie Thompson and Mary McClain all of Waynesboro, TN; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Sandusky; two brothers, J. C. Walker, Willard Walker; and a sister, Betty Jo Carrington. Services will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Casey Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, directing.
