Edward Horton was born April 30, 1915 in Lutts, Tennessee, the son of the late James William and Sallie King Horton. He was united in marriage to Mary Lois Reaves on March 21, 1947.
Mr. Horton was a retired maintenance worker from Murrary Ohio Manufacturing Company and was a member of the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee. He served in the United States Army during W. W. II.
Mr. Horton departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 94 Years, 5 Months, 12 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Reaves Horton of Collinwood, TN; a son, Danny Horton of Murfreesboro, TN; three daughters, Paulette Bratcher of Florence, AL, Jeanette Sherrill of Collinwood, TN, Deborah Hester of Russellville, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Melinda, Charlotte, Chris, Jeff, Jared, Josh, Jordan, April, Nathan, Erin, Will, Summer, and Mollie; eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Horton was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Edward Horton; five brothers and four sisters.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Emerald Bailey and John E. Banks officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Jeffery, Jared, and Josh Sherrill, Chris Bratcher, Nathan Horton, Will Hester. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 9 am to service time at the funeral home.
