Edward King

Edward King, 74, of Byhalia, MS, passed away Wed., May 17, 2023, in Coldwater, MS.

He was born September 11, 1948, in Elaine, AR, son of the late Lexus Leonard King and Carlmal Cleo Owen King and lived in Toone prior to moving to  Byhalia, MS.  He was a farmer and retired truck driver, working for several trucking companies.  Mr. King served his country in the US Army for 3 tours in Vietnam, enjoyed mowing his grass and was never without a smile.  He was always willing to give to those who were in need and deeply loved his family.  His family states that 'he was his grandmother's favorite, and she affectionally called him "Cotton Top".  Mr. King loved his cats and being outdoors.

Survivors include a sister, Judy Ann Fisher (Phillip McNatt) of Navarre, FL; a brother, James "Jim" King (Everett Lawson) of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Elder King in 2009; brothers, Franklin, Bud, Cecil, Marion, Thomas and Paul  Wayne "Pee Wee" King; sisters, Willie Sue King, Gladys Jones and Ima Jean Cross and twelve half brothers and sisters.  Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
