Bolivar, TN

Mr. Edward Lee Marcum, Jr., 95, of Bolivar, departed this life on Wednesday morning, May 3, 2023, at Christian Care Center in Bolivar.

He was born in Brownsville, TN, son of the late Edward Lee Marcum, Sr. and Carrie Archie Marcum.  On January 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Doyle.  Their union lasted for over 74 years until her passing on November 21, 2021.  In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Marcum was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Childress; three sisters, Estelle Kirkpatrick, Virginia Cook and Helen Stinner; and two brothers, James and Elmer Marcum.

Mr. Marcum worked as a self-employed carpenter building many homes in Hardeman County and several hotels in Tennessee and Florida.  He was a member of the Dixie Hills Baptist Church and served his country in the Army during World War II.  He lived most all of his life here.

He leaves two daughters, Sandra Umberger (Dude) of Bolivar and Karen Marcum Childress of Bolivar; one son, Keith Marcum (Gail) of Bolivar; five grandchildren, Kristopher Marcum, Kayla Kuroda (Derrick), Kara Grace Marcum, Hallee Childress and Natalie Childress; and two great-grandchildren, Kale Marcum and Dane Kuroda.
