Edwin G. Northcutt

EDWIN G. NORTHCUTT



was born on October 15, 1925, in Cerro Gordo, Tennessee to the late Edgar Gibson and Lou Della Stewart Stanfield Northcutt. He married Mittie Westerfield on March 25, 1950 in Corinth, Mississippi.



Edwin served his country from 1943 to 1945, in the Navy. He worked for Tom Watkins Electrical Company as an electrician, then went to work for TVA as an electrician before going to work for Reynolds Aluminum.



Edwin was a 60-year member of I.B.E.W. #558 and past Grand Master, 32nd Degree, of the Greenhill Masonic Lodge and past Potentate of the Cahaba Shrine Temple in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a member of the Florence Elks Lodge #820, a lifetime member of The American Legion, a member of The Eastern Star, Muscle Shoals Shrine Club and the VFW. Edwin dedicated his life to Shriners Work.



He formerly lived in Cerro Gordo, Tennessee, which he loved, and Florence, Alabama before moving back to Hardin County where he lived for five years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family.



Edwin departed this life on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the age of 87 years and 7 days. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mittie Westerfield Northcutt.



Also surviving is a sister, Mary Lou Cagle of Cerro Gordo Community, Tennessee; nephews, Nicky (Sue) Cagle, Terry (Carol) Cagle and Ronnie (Brenda) Cagle all of Savannah, Tennessee, Mike (Kathleen) Northcutt of Birmingham, Alabama; nieces, Sandra Joe Gibb of Savannah, Tennessee and Phyllis Long of Clifton, Tennessee; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Edwin Gibson Northcutt, Jr.; brothers, Guymon Northcutt, Glen Willis Northcutt, and Luther Hogan Northcutt; sisters, Joe Carolyn Northcutt and Frankie Nell Northcutt; half brothers, Otis Stanfield and Otho Stanfield.
