Effie McWilliams Brown Sledge

Effie Belle McWilliams Brown Sledge of Jackson, TN was born January 1, 1942 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late John Taylor McWilliams and Sallie Boyd Davis McWilliams. She was united in marriage to James Perry Brown on July 30, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1979. She later married Donald Sledge and he also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sledge was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 10 Months, 15 Days.

She is survived by a son, Joseph Perry Brown, Sr. of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Joseph Perry Brown, Jr. and Katrina Nicole Vann; great-grandchildren, Joshua Perry Brown, John Taylor Brown, Jasmine Nicole Brown, Savannah Brown, Alyssa Brown and Kessy Danielle Vann; brothers, Jasper McWilliams of Cookeville, TN, David McWilliams of Lawrenceburg, TN;
a sister, Barbara Gail Martin of Sand Springs, OK and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Sledge was preceded in death by brothers, James, Dexter and John T. McWilliams and a sister, Era Creecy.

Services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee with N J Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

Visitation will be Monday, November 21, 2022 from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home.
