E. G. Sowell was born April 23, 1927 in Stantonville, TN the son of the late Elmer and Jewel Thacker Sowell.
He was united in marriage to Emma Gean Bratton in August of 1949.
Mr. Sowell was a truck driver, farmer, and logger. He was a member and past deacon of the Meeks Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. He was a well liked man in the community, always giving candy or bubble gum to friends and neighbors.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Sowell departed this life on June 3, 2014 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 1 Month, 11 Days. He is survived by his wife Emma Gean Sowell of Adamsville, TN; two daughters, Shelia Diane (Sowell) Talbott and husband Ronald of Finger, TN, Denise (Sowell) Powell and husband Patrick of Savannah, TN; a son, James David Sowell and companion Sherrie Smith of Morris Chapel, TN;
seven grandchildren, Tonja Mason, John Talbott, Bryan Talbott, Misty Robbins, Christy Craig, Michael Sowell, Ty Powell;
nine great grandchildren, Hunter Robbins, Ava, Claire, Eric, Rachel, Lauren, and Eli Talbott, Kieran Gray, Gracie Talbott;
three sisters, Aval Roy of Blanchester, OH, Freda Fay Holley of Selmer, TN, Nellie Sue Williams and husband Roy of Corinth , MS;
four brothers, Thurmond (Pee Wee) Sowell and wife Katie of Bethel Springs, TN, Fred Sowell and wife Vernell of Corinth, MS, Richard Neal Sowell and wife Beverly of Stantonville, TN, Clyde Sowell and wife Ada of Savannah, TN;
two speical nephews, Johnny Wayne Bratton, Jr. and Robert Wallace Bratton; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sowell was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Sean Thomas Sowell, John Fisher Robbins; two sisters, Fleta Mae Scott, Lou Vonda Stewart; three brothers, Donald Coy Sowell, Edward Sowell, Elmer Olis Sowell.
