Mr. Elige McDaniel was born January 13, 1930, in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman McDaniel Sr. and Mary Dixon McDaniel. He was raised in Savannah, Tennessee and attended Dunbar High School. In 1952 he joined the U. S. Army and served 4 years in Germany and Korea. After serving his time in the military he later moved to Flint, Michigan where he retired from the V/8 Engine Plant, a Division of General Motors. He was a kind and generous man, a friend to many and loved by all who knew him. He had a special bond with his parents, children, brothers, sisters and enjoyed family gatherings.
Mr. Elige McDaniel leaves to mourn his departure from this life: sons, Varrick McDaniel and his wife Xavia (caregiver for 10 years) of Nashville, Tennessee; and Maurice of Flint, Michigan; daughters, Shelia McDaniel Ferguson of Nashville, Tennessee and Mary of Elkhart, Indiana; sister, Jeanette Stephens of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Johnny (Carolyn) McDaniel of Flint, Michigan, Don (Rachel) McDaniel of Paris, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and very speical friends Esau (Flo) Segrest.
Mr. Elige McDaniel was preceded in death by parents; Coleman McDaniel, Sr. and Mary Dixon McDaniel, wife; Cora Mae McDaniel, son, Derrick McDaniel; sister, Mary Myrtle Cherry; brothers, Coleman McDaniel, Jr., Lonzo McDaniel; and loving friend I.C. Hampton.
