Elizabeth Pauline Buchanan, 83, of Memphis, went to be with her Lord on November 16, 2009. She passed away at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
The widow of Alvin Acey Buchanan, who died February 20, 1993, she was the owner of Buchanan’s Slipcovers in Memphis. She was born June 24, 1926 in Middleton to the late Frank and Mattie Barnett Gentry. She sewed and quilted for many years after retiring and loved arts and crafts and was Pentecostal in belief. She lived in Memphis before moving to Saulsbury in the early 1990’s and moved back to Memphis in 2005.
Survivors include 2 daughters and their husbands, Janette P. Hines and Aubrey Hines of Millington and Geniva D. Martin and Arthur of Como, MS; a brother, Charlie Gentry of Cordova; a sister, Carolyn Berryhill of Corinth, MS; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by 2 sons, Jerry W. Buchanan of Memphis and Larry G. Buchanan of Nesbit, MS; her sister, Imogine Mathews of Bolivar; and 2 brothers, Richard Gentry of Bolivar and Billy Joe Gentry of Brownsville, MS.
