Elizabeth G. Lax Edwards, 78, of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 7, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The wife of Jimmie D. Edwards, who survives, she was an assembly worker for Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Chicago for 20 years and was an entrepreneur, having owned and operated The Boat Dock. Mrs. Edwards was born March 23, 1932 in Hardeman County to the late Columbus Glidewell and Myrtle Moss Glidewell Williamson and lived all of her life here. She was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a “Prayer Warriorâ€.
In addition to her husband, whom she married in May of 1995, she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Linda Watkins and Wayne of Bolivar, Anita Payne and Tommy of Flowood, MS, Sandra Modory-Vandenbergh and James of Wilmington, IL; a son and his wife, Wayne Lax and Betty of Bolivar; four stepsons, Jackie Edwards and wife, Becky of Bolivar, Jodie L. Edwards of Martin, John L. Edwards of Sharon, Jeff S. Edwards of Bolivar; a sister, Billie Roach of Memphis; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Brooks Lax, who died June 9, 1992 after 44 years of marriage, a son, Ronald Dwayne Lax, and a stepfather, B.F. Williamson.
