ELIZABETH MOONEY

Reagan, TN: Mary Elizabeth Climer Mooney, age 91 passed away April 23, 2023 at her home.

She was born October 22, 1931, in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Dexter Franklin and Gertha Barker Climer. She attended schools in Henderson County and was married to Eual Mooney on June 28, 1947. They lived in Chicago, IL for twelve years, returning to the Reagan area of Tennessee where they made their home.   

She was a member of the Barren Springs Baptist Church in Reagan. She loved dogs and raised many of them. She loved to quilt and loved to have visitors whom she graciously welcomed into her home.

Mrs. Mooney is survived by two sons, Mike Mooney (Marilyn) of Reagan and Allen Mooney (Linda) of Huron and three daughters, Joyce Wade of Reagan, Carol Pruett of Lexington and Peggy Jennings of Reagan; twelve grandchildren, Bucky Wade, Dennis Wade, Lynn Mooney, Glynn Mooney, Misty Moore, Chris Pruett, Mark Pruett, Justin Bailey, April Greenway, Jason Mooney, Ashley Wise and Johnny Martin; twenty eight great grandchildren and twelve great great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Climer of Reagan; two sisters, Martha Bell Phillips of Reagan and Velma Dean Alexander of Reagan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eual Edward Mooney in 2008, a son Edd Neal Mooney, a son-in-law, Harold Wade, four brothers, Dan Climer, Clifford Climer, Ernest Climer and Paul Climer and two sisters, Hazel Ryan and Mammie Dell Essary, a grandson, Joe Martin.     

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 26^th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Dwight Jones and Randy Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and again at East Main Chapel from  8:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
