Ella Chloe Alexander Phillips

Ella Chloe Alexander Phillips was born on January 23, 1928 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Edwin (Ed) and Adeline (Addie) Duckworth Alexander.

On February 28, 1975, she was united in marriage to Rex A. Phillips, who preceded his wife in death on January 24, 2005.

Mrs. Phillips worked in the commisary for Brown Shoe Company for over 50 years. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church where she loved to sing the hymns with a beautiful alto voice. She also taught the adult women's class for many years. She was a born again Christian that always placed others before herself.

Ella will be remembered as kind, generous, a prayer warrior, a fantastic cook, an attentive and loving wife to Rex Phillips, and an outstanding mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her daughter in law, Gina Davis, as if she were her own daughter, and she was so proud of all of her grandchildren's accomplishments. Her absolute joy of her later years were her 3 great granddaughters, Everlynn, Maddie, and Miley.

Ella Chloe Alexander Phillips departed this life on Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 96 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

She is survived by her son, Jim R. Davis and his wife Gina of Savannah, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Charise Hoseney of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ondra Phillips, and Cindy West; brother, Jim L. Alexander of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Alex Davis and his wife Cecily, Kerr Davis, and Victoria Davis; and great grandchildren, Everlynn Davis, Maddie Davis, and Miley Davis.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ella was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Polk and Helen Shelby and brothers, Rev. Edwin Reese Alexander and F. Bruce Alexander.
