Ellis A. Butler of Waynesboro, TN was born November 14, 1925 in Collinwood, TN, the son of the late Elvin and Ella Franklin Butler. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Frances Lee on September 14, 1946 and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2015.
Mr. Butler was a retired salesman with Rich's Auto Supply and had worked at C & G Auto Parts and the Fitness Center. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee and served in the United States Navy during WW II where he received 4 bronze stars.
Mr. Butler had lived in Detroit, MI but after his children were born, the family moved back to Waynesboro, TN in 1962 and remained here until his death on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Wayne Medical Center at the age of 95 Years, 11 Months, 16 Days.
He is survived by a son, Jamie Butler, wife, Lisa, Waynesboro, TN; a daughter, Karen Butler Johnson, husband, Julius, Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Charlie Butler, wife, Pam, Matthew Johnson, Mary Ella Johnson Lettiere, husband, Sam and Andrew Butler and great-grandchildren, Lucy and Andie Lettiere and Liam Ellis Johnson.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his stepmother, Bonnie Lay Butler and an infant sister, Cathrine Butler.
Services will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Adam Rush officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Butler, Julius Johnson, Charlie Butler, Matthew Johnson, Andrew Butler and Sam Lettiere.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be given to First United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, TN or the Butterfly Foundation, Waynesboro, TN.
