Elmer (Sonny) K. Moore

Elmer (Sonny) K. Moore Jr. was born March 4, 1935 in Lawrence County, Tennessee the son of the late Elmer Kelsey Moore, Sr. and Roxie Virginia Shaffer Moore. Mr. Moore died January 17, 2014 at his home in Nashville at the age of 78 Years, 10 Months, 13 Days. Mr. Moore, a Korean War veteran, joined the Navy April 17, 1952 serving for 4 years.. After his service in the Navy he became a business owner, operating a service station for many years and later became captain of the guard in security for UPS. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Jerrie Franks Moore of Nashville, three sons, Gary Wayne Moore of Mt. Juliet, Jeffrey Glenn Moore of Lebanon, Kevin Lane Moore of Nashville, six grandchildren, Dakota, Gavin, Dillon, Carson, Kaylin, and Kevin, Jr. a sister, Mary Kathern McGee of Lawrenceburg. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Jewell Smith.

Services will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Collinwood with Danny McGee and Chip McGee officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Lutts Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Gary Moore, Jeff Moore, Kevin Moore, Dakota Moore, Gavin Moore, Kaylin Moore, Kevin Moore, Jr., Dale Franks, David Franks, and Browny Franks, hononary pallbearers are C.F. McGee and J.T. Baker.
