EMMA JEAN PLUNK BLANKENSHIP
Henderson, TN: Emma Jean Plunk Blankenship age 84 passed away February 27, 2019 at St. Vincent St. Clair Hospital.
She was born January 18, 1935 in the Montezuma Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Dossie Blaine and Minnie Mae Naylor Plunk. She went to school in the Montezuma Community. She began working when she was fourteen years old. She married J.E. Blankenship and they were married sixty-one and ½ years.
She worked for Salant & Salant for thirty years and then for MKD in Enville for thirty-two years retiring in 2012. As well as working she also raised her family, sewing all their clothes. She was known by many and loved by all. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson.
Mr. Blankenship died January 10, 2011.
Mrs. Blankenship is survived by two daughters, Sherry Davis and Husband Tommy of Henderson and Annette Springer and husband Ted of Talladega, AL.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Dickson, Tasha Heinze (Heath), Zachary Mullins (Jennifer), Joshua Davis (Madison) and Tommy Springer and five great grandchildren, Cole Heinze, Elle Heinze, Nick Mullins, Nate Mullins and Maddox Springer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.E. Blankenship and a twin brother, Jimmy Blaine (J.B.) Plunk in 2011 .
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ronnie Geary and Bro. Brad Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday and beginning at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
