Emma Gean Bratton Sowell was born April 24, 1934 in Corinth, MS the daughter of the late George Robert and Velma Lee Gray Bratton. She was united in marriage to E.G. Sowell on August 21, 1949. Mr. Sowell preceded her in death on June 3, 2014.
Mrs. Sowell was a seamstress and had worked for the Harwood Sewing factory and Garen Industries before she retired. She was a member of the Meeks Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee.
Some of her favorite pastimes were collecting porcelain dolls, working in her flower beds, and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Sowell departed this life on August 16, 2014 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 3 Months, 23 Days. She is survived by two daughters, Shelia Diane Talbott and husband Ronald of Finger, TN, Denise Powell and husband Patrick of Savannah, TN; a son, James David Sowell and companion Sherrie Smith of Morris Chapel, TN; twelve grandchildren, Tonja Mason and companion Becky Mason, John Talbott and wife Michelle, Bryan Talbott and wife Andrea, Misty Robbins and husband Chris, Christy Craig and husband Cody, Michael Sowell and wife Brittni, Ty Powell, Alicia Price, Samantha Terry, Tonya Martz, Casey Robbins, Danny Melton; ten great grandchildren, Hunter Robbins, Ava Talbott, Claire Talbott, Eric Talbott, Rachel Talbott, Lauren Talbott, Eli Talbott, Kieran Gray, Gracie Talbott, Elizabeth Hughes; two special nephews Johnny Wayne Bratton Jr. , Robert Wallace Bratton, and a longtime friend Kathy Wagoner.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sowell was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Sean Thomas Sowell, and John Fisher Robbins; four brothers, James Bratton, Floyd H Bratton, Johnny Wayne Bratton, infant boy Bratton; and a sister, infant girl Bratton.
