Erwin (Del) Horton, Jr. was born on January 11, 1947 in Orange, California to Erwin A. Horton Sr. and Barbara Inez (Rogers) Horton. He departed this life on April 3. 2024 in Corinth. MS.
He was a Veteran serving in the Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and the Army. He retired from the Army. After retiring from the Army, he worked at Shiloh National Military Park. Alier leaving his position there, he worked as the Corinth Tourism Bureau. He served as the past President and Vice President of the American Legion and the flotilla commander with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He loved his family more than anything. He loved working outside in the yard piddling around. His grandson, Kalvin, was his best friend. EmmaLynn was his little princess. He loved all of the animals, but Dobby was forever his shadow.
He is survived by his wife, China Horton; a son, Christopher Horton; three daughters, Calinda Wilbanks and Serenity Edwards of Michie, TN and Mycalann Lett of Gadsden, AL; five grandsons, Brandon White (Jennifer) of Denver, CO, Justin Porteous of Maricopa, AZ. Calian and Myles Lett of Gadsden, AL, and Kalvin Edwards of Michie. TN; two granddaughters.
Mackenzie Price of Maricopa, AZ and EmmaLynn Malone of Michie, TN. He had a host of "honorary" daughters and grandkids that he thought the world of and more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin Horton, Sr. and Barbara Horton, a daughter, Michelle Porteous Price, one brother, Roland Horton, and one sister, Sharon Horton.
