Etta Faye Rainey

Middleton, Tennessee

On April 24, 2024, the world lost a beacon of love and kindness with the passing of Etta Faye Rainey at her home in Middleton. Etta was born on September 28, 1939, in Dennis, Mississippi, to her loving parents Clemmie and Maggie Small Butler.

Etta dedicated her life to caring for others, starting as a homemaker and caregiver before venturing into various roles including working at CLEO in Memphis, PEP Industries in Ripley, she worked at a grocery store in Brownfield, MS, and briefly working at Dover. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life as she poured her heart into raising her children and grandchildren.

A woman of unwavering faith, Etta was a proud Baptist and a former member of Calvary Baptist and Pocahontas First Baptist Church. Her devotion to her beliefs shone through every aspect of her life, guiding her actions with compassion and grace.

In addition to her remarkable career and faith journey, Etta possessed a wide array of talents and interests. She had a green thumb that could turn any garden into a masterpiece, and her skills with a needle and thread were unrivaled. Family gatherings were always filled with joy thanks to Etta's culinary prowess; she delighted in preparing feasts for her loved ones.

Etta leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her former husband Joe Ramer Pulse and by her second husband Sonny Rainey.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Garry Don Pulse, and a brother and sister in law, R.C and Doris Butler.

She is survived by her children, Janie Harris & Mike of Middleton, Alex Pulse and friend, Janet, of Middleton, Vince Rainey & Suzy of Middleton.  Etta's memory will be forever treasured by her grandchildren, including Alex Noel Pulse Robinson & Josh of Jackson, Matthew Clayton Pulse and Mechelle of Middleton, Lacy Michele Harris Jenkins and Josh of Hernando, MS, Zackary Dale Pulse and Abby of Tupelo, MS, Ashley Nicole Pulse and Jackie of Cary NC., Landan Rainey of Huntsville AL , Joe Alex Kirkman Lauren of Ripley MS., Cody Harris Jenna Bolivar along with great grandchildren, Summer , Zander , Zylah , Liam , Luke , Grayson , Sammy , Kai , Libby Kate , Cash , Ryker , Caden Beckett Cynthia Camila Aiden alongside countless other relatives and friends.

In honoring the beautiful life Etta lived, let us remember the love she shared so freely with those around her. Rest in peace, dear Etta Faye Rainey - your kindness will continue to inspire us all.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Pocahontas First Baptist Church or Calvary Baptist Church.
