Eugene Clinton Droke, 94, departed this life on Saturday afternoon, January 2nd 2016 while at home. He was married to the former Ima Faye Davis of Bells Tennessee. He was born on 24 June, 1921 in Coldwater Mississippi to the late Commadore Clinton Droke and Ethel Hudson Long.
He spent most of his life in Memphis working as a grocer then to Kraft Foods as a salesman and eventually retiring in 1983. After retirement, he moved to Bolivar in 1985 where he lived the rest of his life. He also served our country as a Marine in the Pacific during WWII receiving a Commendation for "coolness and initiative in action". He was an avid bridge player winning many tournaments, he enjoyed landscaping their property, fishing, collecting, woodworking, dancing, and anything his wife of 74 years.
He is survived by his wife Ima Faye Droke, his sister Kathryn D. Dixon of Olive Branch, his son William Droke of Cordova, 3 grandchildren, Deanna Darnell of Mayfield, Ky, Geoff Droke of Calvert City, Ky, and David Droke of Beulaville, NC; 14 great grandchildren, Josh, Lorna, Cammy, Austin, Taylor, Brooke, Chloe, Amelia, Hannah, Fayth, Naomi, Matthan, Noah, Elias and 7 great great grandchildren Lucas, Sophie, Asher, Greyson, Karson, Mia, and Mya.
