Eugene McCage

EUGENE MCCAGE

Pinson, TN: Robert Eugene McCage age 83, passed away January 2, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born December 28, 1940, in Chester County, the son of the late Lester Bell and Daisy Viola Gladney McCage. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1964. He was stationed at West Point, New York. He was married to Sandra Bates in 1963 . They lived most of their married life in the Wilson School Community. He worked for the TN Department of Transportation from 1967 until January 2003 as a road designer. He was actively involved as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He served as a Deacon at Antioch Baptist Church.

Mr. McCage is survived by a son, Vance Allen McCage (Lisa) of Jackson; five grandchildren, Julie Flynn (Ryan), Joey Anglin (Keli), Logan McCage, Shelby McCage and Ty McCage; six great grandchildren and a brother, Larry McCage (Nancy) of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandra McCage, in 2007.

The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM January 7, 2024.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Tennessee Council Area Boy Scouts of America.
