Evan Brown, Jr was born July 8, 1929 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Evan Brown, Sr. and Edith Dickey Brown.
He was united in marriage to Nona Jean Smith on March 3, 1951. Mrs. Brown preceded him in death on December 9, 2015. They were married for 64 wonderful years.
Mr. Brown retired from Pickwick Electric Cooperative after 44 years of servicing the communities of McNairy and Hardin County. He was a member of Meeks Grove Freewill Baptist Church and the Adamsville Masonic Lodge. He was known to trade tractors, knives, and watches. He was called upon by several neighbors and friends to locate farm equipment.
He and his wife loved to fish in their pond. Once a year, they would host a fish fry inviting 50 to 60 close friends and neighbors. They also hosted in their home canasta, card and board games with close friends. There was also a close group of friends that gathered weekly to play dominoes. He enjoyed being around people and was never short on conversation. His greatest enjoyment was his family and church family.
Mr. Brown departed this life on November 21, 2019 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 4 Months, 13 Days. He is survived by a son, Ricky Brown (Lekie) of Jackson, TN; a brother, Bobby Neal Brown and wife Laurie of Stantonville, TN; three grandchildren, Lydia Lynn Brown, Austin Lynn Brown, Andrew Tyler Brown; a great-grandson, Atlas Evan Brown; a dear family friend, Dorothy Evans of Bethel Springs, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a sister, Mary (Brown) Phillips; two brothers, James T. (Buddy) Brown and Olan Kendrick Brown.
