Evelyn (Grandma) Simmons

Evelyn (Grandma) Simmons was born June 3, 1922, in San Augustine, Texas, the daughter of the late John and Ebb Luker Karnes.

On April 9, 1938, she was united in marriage to Henry James Simmons, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1998.

Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and a member of the Olivet Pentecostal Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Simmons departed this life on July 6, 2014, at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 3 days.

She is survived by four daughters, Evelyn Maxine Norris, Bennie Jean Simmons and Billie Sue Ray, all of Savannah, Tennessee and Carolyn Ann Mancil of Dardanelle, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonny Karnes, Loyd Karnes and Elmose Karnes; and one grandchild, Michael Andrew Norris.
