Mrs. Cox, 87, of Hornsby, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the Bolivar General Hospital.
She was born Tuesday, May 31, 1932, to the late William Dewey and Ruby Alice Lowrance McMahan in McNairy County, where she lived until she was thirteen years old. At that time, her family moved to Hardeman County. On September 24, 1950, she married Harold Max Cox. Mrs. Cox graduated from Middleton High School in 1950. A homemaker, she was a member of and enjoyed going to Powell's Chapel Methodist Church and, in her leisure time, liked sewing, gardening and making ceramics with her sister, Louise. Most of all, she enjoyed her family. Mrs. Cox was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Max Cox of Hornsby; two sons, Steve Cox and Greg Cox (Teresa), both of Hornsby; five grandchildren, Mike Cox (Jennifer), Ragon Hobbs (Cory), Clint Cox, Angela White, and Shannon Hertwick (Zack); nine great-grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Trevor, Lily, Mallory, Aiden, Max, Riley, and Allison.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Louise Murphy; and two brothers, John William and Joe Kenneth McMahan.
Memorial donations may be made to Powell's Chapel Cemetery.
