FAYE NELL (NELLIE) PICKENS
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on May 7, 1940 the daughter of the late Earnest and Floda Velmer Moore Creekmore.
On December 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to Lloyd H. Pickens, who preceded his wife in death on February 15, 1993.
Faye lived in Savannah, Tennessee until 2007 when she moved to Waterloo, Alabama, where she loved to garden and have her flowers. She was a city girl until she moved to Waterloo, but was scared of " them boogers and the dark." Faye finally got used to it and if you asked her if she wanted to move back to the city she would say "Lord, No! it's peaceful here." She was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church of Savannah and attended Williams Chapel at Waterloo. Faye was a loving and caring mother to her children and to all children that came to her home. She loved her kids and grandkids more than life.
Faye departed this life on June 26, 2017 in Waterloo, Alabama at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 19 days.
She is survived by her children, Ray Pickens and his wife Deborah, Teresa Hinton and her husband Wendell, Jennifer Pickens, Daryl Pickens and daughter in law, Penney Brewer; one brother, Franklin Creekmore and his wife Sandra; three sisters, Ruby Qualls and her husband Ray, Joyce Cook and her husband Freddie and Shirley Casteel and her husband Jerrol; five grandchildren, Corey Pickens, Casey Pickens and his wife Tabbatha Hutton, D. J. Pickens, Derrick Pickens and Harlee Pickens
Faye is also survived by her special cousins, Shirley Shutt, Doris Scott, Frankie Cummings, and Bobby Moore; special friends, Anthony and Sherry Holcombe, Leonard and Nadine Hinton and J. C. and Racheal Young. Faye had a special young lady in her life, Chelsea Kelly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dee and Lillie Mae Moore.
