MaryLou Faye Harmon Perry died May 30, 2025. She was born Sept 16,1926, to Grady and Dora (Tacker) Harmon in Nixon, TN, the oldest of 7 children. She graduated from Central High School in Savannah. After a whirlwind courtship, she married the love of her life, Raymond Perry, in 1947. They were blessed with almost 56 years together. They had three daughters, Rana (Eddie) Hardin, Gwen (H.A.) Taff, and Marta (Roger) Pearsall. Faye loved God and loved caring for her family, which included her grandchildren: Joshua (Vanessa), Ethan (Ashley), Perry (Alba), and Meredith (Jacob Hurt) Hardin; and Adam and Katie (Ty Black) Pearsall. She is survived by one daughter (Marta), one brother (Mack), six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Family meals at her house were delicious, filled with kids and laughs, and usually included corn, apples, blackberries, okra, peppers, beans, and other fresh food from her large garden. She taught her daughters and grands the importance of being able to grow, preserve, and prepare their own food. Many meals left her house in Raymond’s hands on their way to someone who was sick or grieving.
Faye was a prolific flower grower as well. Her yard bloomed with irises, buttercups, roses, azaleas, and many other flowers from February to November. She loved sharing plants with others.
Her biggest love came from playing with her grandchildren. A day spent at grandmother’s always included hide-and-seek, Mother-May-I, and picnics. Cookie baking, picking apples off her trees, chocolate and biscuit for breakfast, and trips to Walmart are other fond memories.
Above all, Faye taught us all to put God first. She valued honesty and integrity, showing by example how to live a quiet life of Christian Faith.
