FLORA (FLO) BLACK GAREY Flo was born in Saulsbury, Tennessee on September 18, 1921 to the late Linley Hicks and Emma Evans Black. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1940 and worked for Sears Mail Order Division. On December 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to James (Jim) Garey who survives. They made their home in Savannah for sixty years prior to moving to Jackson, Tennessee last year. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savannah where she worked with children\'s programs and was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class and Wesleyan Circle. She was a former member of the Savannah Garden Club and Friendship Home Demonstration Club. She was also an Honorary Member of the Savannah Rotary Club and in earlier years active in Parent Teachers organizations, Cub Scouts and Band Boosters. She worked part time as a substitute teacher and later worked for Savannah Rexall Drugs. In addition to her husband of almost 65 years, she is survived by sons Dr. David Garey (Connie) of Jackson and Mark Garey (Daphne) of Franklin, Tennessee and grandchildren, Alex and Eli Garey and McKenzie and Madison Garey along with many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Kathryn Eason of Brentwood, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Wilma Black Graves.Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 3:00 PM, with burial in the Oakland Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Savannah or to the charity of their choice.
