Frances Maxine Crawford

Mrs. Frances Maxine Crawford of Whiteville passed from this life Tuesday night, December 30, 2014 at her home at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 17 days.
Mrs. Crawford was born in Fayette County on the Davis Farm on Thursday, October 13, 1921 to the late John Wesley and Verna Edna Davis Wilson. She graduated from Whiteville High School with the class of 1939. In her younger years, she she worked for her grandfather as a bookkeeper at his cotton gin.
On February 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Mr. Edwin Earl "Jack" Crawford with whom she ran a grocery store in Whiteville. She eventually retired as a bookkeeper for Whiteville Armature. Mr. Crawford passed away October 9, 2013.
Among her favorite pastimes, Mrs. Crawford enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and painting; and she was an accomplished seamstress.
She is survived by her sons, Gaylon Crawford and wife Dianne of Somerville, and Burton Crawford of Whiteville; brothers, Robert W. Wilson of Whiteville, and Jerry Wilson of Whiteville; grandchildren, Daniel Crawford and wife Courtney, and Benjamin Crawford; great-grandchildren, Hannah Crawford and Dylan Crawford; numerous nieces and nephews, and her caregivers.
The Crawford family would like to give special thanks to Beverly Bishop, Debra Crowder, Dixie Freels, Kaysha Beard, and Yvette Merriweather, for the kindness and care they provided.
