Mr. Simpson passed away Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2011 at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville, SC.
He was born in Memphis, the son of the late Francis Lester Simpson, Sr. and Ruth Webb Simpson and lived most of his life in Middleton. On June 12, 1952, he married Nancy Goodell and they were married 53 years before her death on September 14, 2005. Mr. Simpson was a charter member and Deacon Emeritus of Liberty Baptist Church in Middleton and a US Army Veteran having served during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the Philippine Liberation. He served as President and CEO of the Bank of Middleton for 44 years until his retirement in 1990. Also, he was owner of Simpson Insurance Agency and was a member of the American Legion and TN Bankers Association.
He leaves his daughter and her husband, Holly and Kim Easterling of Hartsville, SC; his son and his wife, Tim and Leah Simpson of Lakeland, TN; two sisters and their husbands, Jane and John Neely of Middleton, and Peggy and Henry Ford of Tuscaloosa, AL; he leaves eight grandchildren, Timothy Goodell “T.J.†Simpson, Jr., Kaitlyn Aloha “Katie†Simpson, Mikayla Grace Simpson, Joshua Francis Simpson, Joseph Vance Simpson, Jessica Aubrey Dietz-Easterling, Andrew Michael “Drew†Easterling and Kimberly Alexis “Alex†Easterling.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Francis Simpson; and his brother, James Slater Simpson.
