Frank G. Benson, a devoted family man, passionate pilot, and faithful Methodist, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at his son's home in Williston, Tennessee. Born on March 16, 1936, in Lawrence County, Arkansas, Frank lived a life deeply rooted in hard work, love, and community.
Frank retired from Security Alert in 1996, at the age of 62. His career was marked by steadfast commitment and professionalism, qualities that extended into every aspect of his life. He was originally from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
An accomplished Mason and pilot, Frank's interests were many and diverse. He cultivated a deep love for farming and salesmanship, always finding joy in the outdoors—flying freely in the sky, casting lines while fishing, and playing rounds of golf. Travel was also a beloved pursuit, but his greatest happiness was found within the embrace of his family, cherishing every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Frank’s faith as a Methodist was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through joys and trials alike with grace and compassion. His proud legacy includes the loving memories he leaves behind and the values he instilled in those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cicero Benson and Jessie Henson Benson; his beloved wife, Homerlene Kerley Benson; his daughter, Sherry Baillio; sisters Bernice Waddell and Emily Dawson; and brother J.G. Benson.
Frank is survived by his sons, Frank Benson, Jr. of Oklahoma and Jamie Benson of Williston, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by Frank’s generosity and kindness are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on May 18, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, Tennessee. A graveside service will follow the same day at Fayette County Memorial Park West Chapel in Somerville, beginning at 1:00 p.m., where Frank will be laid to rest among those who cherish him most.
Frank G. Benson’s journey on this earth may have ended, but the echoes of his laughter, the imprint of his love, and the lessons of his life endure eternally. He will be remembered not only for the roles he fulfilled but for the warmth and generosity with which he lived every day. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the American Cancer Society (American Cancer Society).
