Frank Jasper Harris

Frank Jasper Harris was born August 11, 1931 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Joe and Patience Lewis Harris.

He was united in marriage to Imogene Plunk, who preceded him in death on May 11, 1990. On May 17, 1991, he was united in marriage to Magdalene Melton Littlejohn, who survives.

Mr. Harris was a graduate of Bethel Springs High School. After graduation, he entered the United States Army and served two years. He also served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for more than 25 years. Mr. Harris worked in law enforcement, serving for 23 years in Atlanta, GA before returning to McNairy County in June of 1974. He continued his career, serving as Chief of Police for the cities of Adamsville and then Selmer, until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Harris enjoyed camping, traveling, and watching Atlanta Braves baseball. He was a 50 year member of the Purdy Masonic Lodge, a 33rd degree Mason, and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the McNairy community.

Mr. Harris departed this life on May 12, 2014 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 9 Months, 1 Day. He is survived by his wife of almost 23 years, Magdalene (Melton) Littlejohn Harris; three sons, Randy Littlejohn and wife Denise, Joel Littlejohn and wife Andrea, and Ronnie Littlejohn and wife Vickie; two daughters, Cathy Taylor and husband Ed and Lisa Hovater and husband Jim; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 3 step grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Frankie Henry; a nephew, Ronald Henry and wife Beverly; a niece, Vicki Kreuger and husband Mark; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents and first spouse, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by a sister, Arlie Smith, and a son, Danny Littlejohn.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Harris may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Mt. Zion Baptist Church building fund.
