Mr. Sealand died Sunday night at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Janet Lax Sealand, who survives, he was the owner and operator of Sealand's Grocery in Hickory Valley for 30 years. Mr. Sealand was born September 27, 1925 in Marianna, AR to the late Orlen Franklin Sealand and Margie Gertrude Bryant Sealand and lived most of his life in Hardeman County. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a 2nd class petty officer. He was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign War and his family states he was a loving father and husband. He was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his wife, whom he married November 22, 1947, he is survived by a daughter, Pat Parker and her husband, Keith of Oxford, MS; two sons, Frank Sealand, Jr. of Columbia and Darrell Mercer and his wife, Julie of Silerton; a close friend he considered as a daughter, Linda Watkins and her husband, Wayne of Middleburg; three grandchildren, Katie Griffin, Lori Anne Sealand and Michelle Cox; two great grandchildren, McCailin Cox and Aiden Cox; two sisters, Mable Wyles of Laconia and Betty Malone of Whiteville; and a brother, Milton Sealand of Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Sealand; and two sisters, Dorothy Traywick and Annie Laura Bruce.
