Franklin D. Johnson, Jr.

November 23, 1958 — May 14, 2025

Somerville, TN 38068

Private, family-only memorial services will be scheduled at a later date for Franklin D. Johnson, Jr., 66, of Somerville. Mr. Johnson departed this life early Wednesday morning at home.

Born in West Memphis, AR, he was the son of the late Franklin D. Johnson, Sr. and Betty Joyner Johnson, who survives.  He lived in Memphis until 10 years ago when he moved to Somerville.  His life's work was spent as a respiratory therapist at Methodist Hospital - Germantown where he was employed for 35 years.

"Frank", as he was known to most, was a man of varied interests.  He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and cutting grass on his family's property.  An avid reader, he continued listening to audio books in his later years, as his health failed him.  His family recalls with fondness his ability to cook; whether it was preparing a pot of chili, as cold weather approached, or baking one of his famous cheesecakes.  He was particularly fond of his cats he cared for especially, Gildamesh, Geis and Loud.  And, speaking of loud, he was a die-hard fan of the group, 'KISS', who he traveled to see in concert several times.

In addition to his beloved mother, he leaves two sisters, Beth Hoskins of Williston and Sandra Johnson of Somerville: nieces and nephews, Amber Hilliard, Ashley Busby, Abbigail Howell and Jeffery Stiles; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, his son, Brandon Johnson and his brother, Randy Dale Johnson.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis.
