Fulton Null

Fulton Null, a dedicated husband and loving father, passed away on October 1, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on December 21, 1948, in Ripley, Mississippi, Fulton brought joy and warmth to the lives of those around him.

Fulton joined the Marine Corps immediately after graduating from Selmer High School in 1967. He served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1969. Recognized for his courage and sacrifice, Fulton was awarded the Purple Heart. He took immense pride in his military service and carried the values he learned during his time in the Marines throughout his life.

After his discharge from the military, Fulton embarked on a fulfilling career. He began working at Brown Shoe Company in Selmer and later moved on to Owens Corning, where he contributed his skills until the plant closed its doors in 1987. Undeterred by this setback, Fulton continued to make significant contributions at various companies including Wal Mart, Kolpak, GE Appliances, and Monogram Refrigeration LLC in Selmer. His dedication and commitment to excellence were recognized by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. After many years of hard work and dedication, Fulton retired in 1997.

Outside of work, Fulton had a wide array of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was skilled in woodworking and took great pleasure in rebuilding old cars. However, one of his favorite pastimes was sharing a good meal with his beloved family. Whether it was at home or dining out, Fulton cherished the moments spent breaking bread together and engaging in heartfelt conversations that brought them all closer. Fulton was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eastside church of Christ in Selmer.  He always supported the military and his fellow veterans and was a patriotic American.

Fulton's love for family knew no bounds. For over five decades, he shared a beautiful companionship with his wife Darlene Holmes Null, who survives. Fulton's legacy lives on through his children Stacey Lee Null of Selmer TN, Timothy M. Null and his wife Amy of Ramer, TN, and Lindsay R. Palacio and her husband Albert of Selmer, TN. He was a proud grandfather to Garrett M. Null and Amelia Rose Palacio, who brought immense joy to his life. Fulton was a caring brother to Helen Scott and her husband Greg of Corinth, Mississippi, as well as Peggy Mulder and her husband Ronnie of Stantonville, Tennessee. Fulton's extended family and friends were an integral part of his life, providing unwavering support and enriching his journey. He is preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Lee Null; mother, Sally Melinda Swinford Meeks; sister, Nancy Smith; and in-laws, R. L. and Betty Young Holmes.

Fulton Null will be fondly remembered for his kindness, integrity, and dedication to serving others. His selflessness in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy that will continue to impact the lives of those he touched.

Memorials may be made to the McNairy County Veteran's Coalition.
