Garlene Cooper Dawson

Garlene Cooper Dawson, 80, of Middleton, died Sunday, April 8 at her home in Walnut, Missisippi.



The widow of Boyd B. Cooper, and John Freeman Dawson, she worked as cafeteria manager with Middleton High School. She also was a farmer, had worked at Kirby High School and was an Avon representative in the Southaven area, having won several awards. She was born June 2, 1931, in Hardeman County to Garland Burnette and Nell Sexton Burnette, both of whom preceded her in death and had lived in Hardeman, DeSoto and Alcorn Counties. Mrs. Dawson was a member of Grace Bible Church.



Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sulene Wilbanks (Avis) of Walnut, Miss.; a son and his wife, Mark Cooper (Connie) of Middleton; a sister, Mary Ann Rains of Memphis; and a granddaughter, Kassie Cooper of Middleton. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Mike Cooper in 1995; and three brothers, James Henry Burnette, Billy Joe Burnette and Aaron Burnette.
