Obituary

Garrett Wayne Brown, 24, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2026.

Garrett was born April 7, 2002, in Jackson, Tennessee, and was raised in the McNairy community, where he later made his home with Meghan. He attended Bethel Elementary and McNairy Central High School and earned a degree in Information Technology from Jackson State Community College. He worked as a Computer Specialist in the IT Department at Magnolia Regional Health Center.

Garrett and Meghan spent 10 years together, growing up side by side and building a life and home together. They were to be married on September 26, 2026. Though their wedding day had not yet arrived, the love, commitment, and life they shared had been years in the making.

Garrett will be remembered most for his big heart. He was a true gentleman—thoughtful, chivalrous, and always caring for those he loved. He also had a wonderfully silly and sometimes lovingly aggravating side that could always make those around him laugh.

He enjoyed gaming, watching racing, spending time with family and friends, and playing with his loyal companions, Millie and Tux, his beloved dachshunds. Garrett was a member of Purdy Masonic Lodge No. 132 and was also a member of the York Rite and Knights Templar of Selmer.

Garrett is survived by his fiancée and partner of 10 years, Meghan Walk; his father, Robert Brown and wife, Tracy; his mother, Jamie Hillman; grandparents, Nancy and James Smith; sister, Savannah McCall and husband, Timothy; future parents-in-law, Eric and Misti Walk; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Jessica Newton; Grandmother Janet Plunk and Grandfather Gerald Brown; step grandfather Roy Newton, and great grandparents Thomas Burton and Lois Hinson.

Garrett’s 24 years were far too few, but they were filled with love, laughter, friendship, and memories that will be carried by those who loved him for a lifetime. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
