Gary David Church was born April 9, 1953 in Cairo, IL the son of the late James Sylvester and Thelma Mae Sims Church.
He was united in marriage to Debbie Johnson on November 29, 1974.
Gary was a 1971 graduate of Messick High School in Memphis, TN. He was employed as a metal finisher for Smith & Nephew in Memphis for 36 years before retiring in 2015. Old cars and motorcycles were his passion; he was especially proud of his two 1957 Chevrolets and Yamaha motorcycle. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his two beautiful granddaughters, Presley and Sawyer. Gary was a hard working man who loved his family dearly. He was a faithful member of the People's Tabernacle in Savannah.
Gary departed this life on August 22, 2019 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 66 Years, 4 Months, 13 Days. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie (Johnson) Church of Bethel Springs, TN; two sons, Justin David Church of Olive Branch, MS and Joshua Garrett Church and wife Charley of Finger, TN; two granddaughters, Presley Brook Church and Sawyer Elizabeth Church; a brother, James Larry Church and wife Thelda of Southhaven, MS; his mother-in-law, Imagene Johnson of Bethel Springs, TN; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela Kay Church, and his father-in-law, Rev. James Paul Johnson.
