Gary Ellmont Gallaher

Gary Ellmont Gallaher of Collinwood, TN was born January 7, 1942 in Collinwood, TN, the son of the late Durward Ellmont Gallaher and Fannie Marie Dicus Gallaher.

He was a retired teacher and supervisor, having taught in the Wayne County, TN school system and worked as the Wayne County Youth Service Officer. He had many friend and acquaintances and was a mentor to a great number of young men and women.

Mr. Gallaher departed this life Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home at the age of 75 Years, 4 Months, 17 Days.

He is survived by his lifetime companion, Patsy Risner of Collinwood, TN; a sister, Gilda G. Collie and husband, Steve of Collinwood, TN; nieces, Kelley O. Greer and husband, Mark and Kim McFall and husband, Ronald all of Collinwood, TN and Amy Turner and husband, David of Picayune, MS; nephew, Jason Collie and wife, Sherri of Collinwood, TN; great-nieces, Ragan Stooksberry, Amelia Baer, Chelsea Fredritz, Gretchen Greer and Lena, Lexi and Lila Turner; great-great-nephews, Ace Stooksberry and Brecken Fredritz and great-great-niece, Abby Fredritz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gail G. Odle.

At his request, his body will be cremated and memorial services will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee. Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 11:30 am until the service at the funeral home.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given at any Wayne County Bank to the Gary E. Gallaher Scholarship Fund to benefit others.
