GARY L. HOLMES
Henderson, TN: Gary Lanoice Holmes age 69, passed away Friday afternoon January 20, 2017 at his home in the Laurel Hill Community.
Mr. Holmes was born March 21, 1947 in Henderson County, moved to the Laurel Hill Community in Chester County at six months of age, the son of the late Joe Clois Holmes, Sr. and Ruth Kennedy Holmes. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1965 and married Sarah Vandiver in 1970. They made their home in the Laurel Hill Community. He did mechanic work most of his adult life and retired from the Chester Farmer’s Co-op in 2003 after an accident. He was a member of the Curtis Hill Church of God of Prophecy.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Sarah Magdalene Vandiver Holmes of Henderson; two daughters, Teresa Bone (David Burruss) of Bells and Shay Griswell (Ronald) of Henderson; three grandchildren, Christopher Bone, Taylor Griswell and Peyton Griswell; one brother, Joe Holmes, Jr. (Nancy) of Henderson and one sister, Judy Cranford (Phillip) of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Marshall Bone in 2012.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2017 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Joe Watson and Richard Horner officiating. Burial will follow in Little Hatchie Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday.
