Gary Simpson was born on November 10, 1951 in Riverside, California, the son of the late James Simpson and Wanda Via.

On May 17, 1997, he was united in marriage to Nancy Stewart, who survives.

Mr. Simpson honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from September 30, 1970 until August 28, 1972. He worked in Search and Rescue Jeep Patrol for 20 years in Redding, Shasta County, California. Gary was a jeweler for 35 years in Redding, California and later worked for Littles Jewelry in Jackson, Tennessee.

Gary loved to cook and spend time outdoors. He enjoyed bass fishing and going sand dune riding on side-by-sides in Oregon with his family and friends. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee.

Gary Simpson departed this life on May 6, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 26 days.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy Simpson; daughters, Michelle Hollister and Shannon Dean; son, Ryan O'Hern; sisters, Gail Blankenship and Bonnie Koons; grandchildren, Noah Whaley, Luke Hollister, Tyson Hollister, Austin Dean, Ashley Dean, Nolan Dean, Cameron Dean, Jordan Dean, Ryder Dean, Faith Dean, Hunter Dean, Kaden O'Hern, and Alex O'Hern; and great grandchildren, Weston Dean and Casen Dean.
