Gene E. Johnson

Gene E. Johnson departed this life on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the age of 80 years, 2 months, 28 days.He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on May 28, 1932, the son of the late Robert Jefferson and Cynthia Cherry Johnson. On February 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Betty Conner, who survives. From 1952 - 1956 he served in the US Air Force. Before marriage, Gene had lived in the Cherry Chapel Community and presently in the Oak Grove Community. He enjoyed gardening, farming and retired from Hardin Farmers Co-op after 20 years of employment.Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Conner Johnson of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Nell Hardy of Savannah, Tennessee, Patsy Murphy of Clanton, Alabama and Betty Hartung of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kate Tune; brothers, Gordon Johnson and Lane Johnson.
