Gene Allen Maness

Gene Allen Maness was born June 22, 1935 in Henderson, TN the son of the late Clyde Allen and Mary Imogene Bassham Maness. Gene was a graduate of Chester County High School Class of 1953, and UT Knoxville, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was married to Bettye L Mims on December 31, 1959. Gene and Bettye made their home in Henderson before moving to Jackson. Gene owned and was the general agent at Gene A. Maness Insurance Agency for over forty years retiring in 2000. He had served as Fire Chief for fifteen years and also as City Alderman for the City of Henderson. He was a Mason, Shriner and a member of The First United Methodist Church. Gene was avid UT Fan and golfer.

Mr. Maness departed this life on April 25, 2017 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 10 Months, 3 Days.

He is survived by his wife Bettye Mims Maness of Henderson, TN; two daughters, Micki Wakely and husband John of Peoria, AZ, Melinda Harris and husband John of Jackson , TN; four grandchildren, Will Harris of Boone, NC, Rachel Harris of Chattanooga, TN, Jack Wakely of Peoria, AZ, Drew Wakely of Peoria, Az.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Maness was preceded in death by a step father Dudley Travis.
