Mr. Johnson died, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Pine Meadows Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
The son of the late George Jackson Johnson, Sr. and Hazel Anderson Johnson, he was born August 29, 1933, in Glenmore, Louisiana. The widower of Shirley Glisson Johnson, who died in March of 1987, he married Marcell Sutton Lambert on April 13, 1993. A member of the Teamsters Union, he was a truck driver for Breuner's Home Furnishings in California for 33 years before retiring in 1988. A native of Louisiana, he lived some 12 years in Mississippi prior to 38 years in California and finally moving to Hardeman County in 1990.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister Ruth Pellegrin of Houston,TX; 6 nephews, 8 nieces, 5 step children, 5 grandnephews, 10 grandnieces and 15 great grandnephews and great grandnieces. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dorothy Craft and Katherine Johnson; and by 3 brothers Odell, Arthur Edward and LaRay Johnson.
