George A. Lackeywas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 26,1915 the son of the late Joseph Edward and Polonia Jane Falls Lackey.Mr. Lackey was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during World War II. During his service time, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war in Germany. He received a Purple Heart. On July 21,1949 he married the former Delia Louise Davis who preceded him in death onJune 03,1993. Mr. Lackey worked as a self-employed brick mason and attended Mount Hermon Baptist Church of Savannah.He departed this life on August 9, 2007 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 1 Month, 14 Days.Mr. Lackey is survived by his daughter Nancy Janette Lackey Woods, of Counce, Tennessee;1 Grandaughter: Miranda LaDawn Woods Parson and 2 Great-grandchildren: Brianna Leigh and Andrew Clay Parson.In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 6 sisters: Lillian Bain, Blanche Willoughby, Annie Bain, Barbara Porter, Josie DeBerry, Emma Venable and 2 Brothers: Edward Lackey and Rev. J.K. Lackey.
