George William McLeroy, 90, of Bolivar, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at his home.
Born February 23, 1919 to the late Otis Bryant and Willa Aileen Mills McLeroy, he was a factory operator with Master Slacks. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army from March 1941 to October 1946, having served in World War II and the Asiatic Pacific and a member of New Bethany Church of Christ. He enjoyed singing and playing music and painting.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Scott McLeroy, whom he married April 15, 1950; two daughters and their husbands, Sheila Ann Mayes and Ralph of Saulsbury, Elia Janene Hall and Tony of Bolivar; a daughter-in-law, Sheila K. McLeroy of Coldwater, MS; two sons, Allen Burl McLeroy of Bolivar, Arnold Keith McLeroy of Middleton; three sisters, Willa Shaw of Olive Branch, MS, Kathrine Shaw of Ashland, MS, Mary Pierce of Arlington; one brother, James McLeroy of Hickory Flatt, MS; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Tony McLeroy; two sisters, Callie Johnson and Evie Cook; and a brother, Bryant McLeroy.
