IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Kenneth
Stricklin
June 28, 1942 – January 24, 2026
George Kenneth "Speedy" Stricklin was born on June 28, 1942 to the late Ora Lee Moore Stricklin Todd and the late George Walker Stricklin.
George graduated from Adamsville High School in 1960. He went on to study electrical and refrigeration at William R. Moore College of Technology in Memphis, TN.
George coached Little League Baseball for several years in the 1960s/70s.
Many people came to know him as "Speedy," from his over 40 years at Winningham Furniture in downtown Adamsville, TN. He retired from there in June 2005.
He was a member of the Adamsville/Selmer Lodge #338 for over 50 years.
He served his community as an elected Commissioner of the City of Adamsville for 4 years.
A devout Christian, George attended White's Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Savannah, TN. He was member of Bumpus Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Throughout his life, he served the Lord in many areas, including as a deacon and an elder. He enjoyed singing and studying the Bible. He, also, loved sharing God's Word at every opportunity he had.
His love and knowledge of the Bible will live on in the hearts of his friends and family.
In addition to his love of studying the Bible, George enjoyed spending time with his family, watching Tennessee football and talking sports with his brother Joe, as well as his brother-in-law Alfred. He especially loved singing gospel songs with his daughters. He could hear their alto and soprano voices blend together so smoothly. One of his last requests in this life was to hear them sing. He said that it was "pretty."
The family would like to thank the staff and medical professionals at Hardin Medical Center, HMC
Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for their kindness.
George departed this earthly life on January 24, 2026 at the age of 83.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Patsy Sue Inman Stricklin;
His devoted daughters, Sherry Stricklin Boles (with her husband, Dewayne Boles) of Adamsville, TN and Leigh Ann Stricklin of Selmer, TN;
His granddaughters, Kristian Stricklin of Knoxville, TN, Bailey Knipper (Chase) of Henderson, TN and Kendall Boles of Adamsville, TN;
His great grandchildren, Emery Ullmann, Baylor Knipper and Preston Knipper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Dan M. Todd, as well as his siblings, Joe Stricklin and Peggy Jones.
