GEORGIA BEENE PHILLIPS
Henderson, TN: Georgia Phillips, age 93, passed away Saturday May 14, 2022 at West TN Rehabilitation Hospital.
She was born January 9, 1929 and raised at Finger, the daughter of the late James Samuel Allen and Vera C. Smith Beene.
She attended elementary school at Finger and graduated from Bethel Springs High School. She married C.H. Phillips November 13, 1948 and made their home in Henderson since 1962.
She had worked at Brown Shoe, Owens Corning Fiberglass and General Electric in Selmer. She was also a licensed beautician working from home.
She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ since 1962.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She and C.H. attended the annual reunions of the USS Iowa for many years.
She was a member of the Chester County Senior Citizens and had earned hundreds of medals at the Tennessee Senior Olympics. She was inducted in the Tennessee Senior Olympics Hall of Fame in 2018.
She bowled regularly in the Jackson Senior Bowling League.
She was an avid supporter of the Freed-Hardeman Athletics and was one of four members of the basketball Golden Girls.
She is survived by a son, Rex Phillips (Denise) of Finger; daughter, Elaine Williams (Mike) of Lexington; a sister, Joyce Lott of Henderson; four grandchildren, Jill Bowen (Seth), Adam Phillips (Jennifer), Phillip Williams, and Blake Williams (Mallory); and six great grandchildren, Baylee, Brooks, and Bryce Bowen, Knox Phillips, Halle Sawyer, and Parker Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Bob Beene.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 17th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Ben Flatt officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Chapel 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM service time on Tuesday.
