Georgie Lee Franks, of Savannah, was born on June 30, 1938, the daughter of the late Herman and Erna Maness. Mrs. Franks departed this life on Sunday, March 27, at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 27 days.
She married Billy Franks on December 24, 1966 and was married for over 50 years when he preceded her in death. Mrs. Franks was a homemaker and took pride in working tirelessly to take care of her family. She loved spending time outdoors gardening, growing vegetables and flowers. She especially loved basketball, from being a standout in her high school playing days at Adamsville High School to enjoying watching the Lady Vols play. She was an avid supporter of youth and high school sports that her children or grandchildren were playing. She loved taking trips with Billy in their retirement years.
Georgie is survived by her three children; son Bryan Franks and wife Stephanie of Jackson, TN, son Ronald Franks and wife Adria of Collierville, TN, and daughter Chanda Franks of Jackson, TN. She had six grandchildren that held a special place in her heart; Kaylee and Bryce Franks (Bryan) and Tyler and Brady Franks, Trace and Hope Magro (Ronald). She is also survived by her sister Laverne McMullen (John) of Savannah, TN.
Serving as pallbearers are Brady Franks and Bryce Franks (grandsons), and Dave Burross (nephew).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Franklin Maness and her sister, Lavelle Burross.
